Which Jute Bag Option Fits Your Brief? A Pre-Order Check
By the time a quotation arrives, most buyers have chosen a bag. The period between receiving the quotation and confirming the order is the right moment for a final check: does this option actually fit the brief? Changes are simplest before artwork is approved and production is scheduled. This pre-order review helps marketing, procurement and event teams confirm the choice against everything the bag needs to do.
1. Contents: does everything fit?
List the items the bag must carry and their dimensions. Confirm usable internal space with the bag opened and loaded, including the gusset depth and opening. For boxed gifts, bottles, documents or a laptop, check the actual item rather than relying only on flat bag measurements.

2. Weight and construction
Describe the heaviest load the bag will carry. Check that the construction, including handle type, stitching and any reinforcement, has been discussed for that use. No universal load figure applies to all jute bags, so rely on the discussion for your specific product rather than a general rating.

3. Handles
Short handles suit hand carry; long handles suit shoulder carry. Rope, cotton webbing and padded jute handles feel different. Make sure the quoted handle matches how recipients will carry the bag. If recipients carry the bag while also holding other items, for example at an exhibition, shoulder-length handles are often more practical.

4. Closure and features
Does the brief need a zip, button, inner pocket, window or lining? Each adds cost and may affect timing. Confirm that the quotation includes what you need and nothing unnecessary. If you plan to describe the bag as plastic-free, check components against the component checklist.

5. Fabric and colour
Confirm jute, juco or cotton. Juco is premium and costs more than jute, and is often chosen for finer printing and gifting. Confirm natural colour (undyed) or a dyed shade; dyeing adds two weeks and extra charges.

6. Print
Check the number of colours, sides, print size and placement in the quotation against your artwork. Fine detail may need simplifying for jute. See Jute Weave Explained. HANDCRAFT uses azo-free printing inks, with the printing method confirmed for each order.

7. Quantity
Recheck the quantity against recipients, sites and any reserve. Has anything changed since the enquiry, such as a larger guest list or an extra location? See Do You Need a New Bag Order?
8. Timing
Confirm the date the bags must arrive, and allow time for your own packing and distribution.
9. Delivery and documentation
Confirm delivery addresses, receiving contacts and, for international orders, the destination country and any documentation your organisation needs. HANDCRAFT supplies the bags only. Filling and distribution are handled by your team.
10. Sample
If the bag is new to your organisation or the use is demanding, ask whether a sample is possible. Sampling is decided case by case.
11. Claims and messages
Check any message printed on the bag, and any public statement about it, for accuracy. See Pledge and Campaign Messages on Branded Bags
Who should sign off
A bag order often touches several teams. Marketing owns the artwork and messages, procurement owns the quotation and terms, the event or programme lead owns the dates and quantities, and logistics owns delivery. Before you confirm, ask each owner to check their part of the list below. A short sign-off round takes a day or two and catches most issues that would otherwise appear during production or on arrival. Record the agreed specification in one place, and send it with your confirmation so that everyone is working from the same details.
